all my pictures♥final piece

I decided to put all my images from the project into a movie because I felt all together as a large set/project it showed my journey well, and because they all compliment each other and related – by having text on every image. I decided to use the format of the movie because in using a blog I have kept most of my sketchbook digital, I wanted to do the same with my final piece. And although my blog could be seen as the whole, and a final piece, I think I needed something more formal and together than a blog. I chose to add music to the video to add to the striking affect of each image on the viewer, changing their emotions during the whole video.

Moonlit skies♥analysis

I love this image because you can see the moon in such intimate detail and it fascinates me. I did very little editing to this image because I felt it didn’t need any to look beautiful and I think my editing would’ve taken away from the striking effect. I chose to put the text so close to the main focal point of the moon because as the eye is drawn there straight away, the blackness of the sky isn’t focused on. So as the image being simple I wanted the words to strand out just as well as the moon to add to the picture

I also love this image because of the way the moon lights the clouds creating a beautiful silhouette to the clouds making the different contours stand out. The main focal point to this image is probably the clouds that are lit up and then the moon in the background to this. I like how the sky isn’t pitch black yet more of a blue so you can see the clouds in contrast to the sky. I have edited this image slightly in increasing the contrast and putting a filter on top of the image to make sure the main focal point was the clouds. I chose to again put the text sp close to the main focal point because I didn’t want it to be lost in the darkness of the rest of the image. I chose to use a a more complicated font because I wanted the image to be really looked at so the viewer could see all the detail.

Moonlit skies♥

the great gatsby quote♥

"that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool"

I decided to base a set of images on a famous piece of literature – The Great Gatsby, and from this I took the quote: “that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool". So I based this idea of images on the idea of beauty being the only thing a girl can do in life. From this I put a separate quote from The Great Gatsby surrounding beauty over each image as my text. I kept the font simple because I wanted the actual text to be the main meaning rather than looking beautiful. I also chose to put the text in obvious places because they needed to be seen from the viewer to fully understand the image. I chose to edit the images in the particular dulled down, drearier way to show the viewer that beauty isn’t everything yet could shin through duller, boring looking images. I think from this set of images the viewer has too look closer at each image to see the meaning and the beauty behind the image.

Landscape♥analysis

This image is one of my favourite because of the colours and the general depth of the image really appeals to the eye. The main focal point of the image appears to be the clouds drawing the eye in from the left hand corner through to the black outlines and the darker clouds in the bottom right hand corner. Another focal point is the orange, yellow sunset behind the clouds and the outlines creating a beautiful contrast between the solid blacks and blues to the calming oranges. I really like the clouds in this image because they almost seem unreal to the eye, along with the fact there are 3 different types in one image makes it interesting to look at. I edited this image through upping the contrast and playing with the colour curves to create a striking contrast between colours. I used simple font because I didn’t want the image to be over powered and making it not as eye catching so therefore not retracting from the image.
The main focal point to this image is the white sun within the middle of the image, from this the eye is drawn to the yellows, pinks, oranges, reds and blue’s of the sky. The eye is then pulled down to the horizon which is a strong black creating a strong impact. The colours in this image are really pretty and although contrasting and bright are also subtle in the fact that they’re nearly pastel colours. My favourite part to the picture is the suns raise onto the horizon creating a semi-circle of light, I think that this looks particularly beautiful within the image because it helps blend the horizon into the sky. I edited the image so that the colours would be highly contrasting because it is a sunset and needs to be eye catching. I put the text so central compared to the off centre sunset because it almost leads off from the sunset and I wanted it to be in line with the whitish plane trail slightly higher within the image, so that it would blend in. Although this isn’t a complex image I wanted the text to be simple so it wouldn’t retract or be the central focus with it being within the centre of the image.
This had to be one of my favourite images within this set, and although it probably isn’t the obvious choice I think it had its own unique qualities. The main focal point to this image is obviously the hand rising up within the image, I like the contrast of the hand upon the sky as the skin colour is very bold against the clouds and the blue. I like the fact that the viewer has no idea what the subject was reaching for – if anything and why they would  be raising their arm, I like how only the photographer knows. I edited this image so that the arm would be quite soft against the sky, but still making it contrasting, so I upped the contrast. I chose to use more complex font for this image because there is no meaning behind it and also the hand is such a main focal point that a complex font would not retract from this. I like how the clouds and the wires within this picture almost split it up and cut it into sections, leading the eye down each line to a new focal point.
For this picture I decided to repeat it to get a double effect within my image. I liked the idea of having the same image repeated so that the view is almost ‘seeing double’, I also decided to have the image split up into six with white lines separating each section because basically I liked the effect and thought it was different from my other images. Because it was such a simple image I thought the split would work well on it. I really like this image because it is of an old bus stop which could be taking you anywhere and it almost holds the meaning ‘the skies the limit’. The contrast on this image between the whites of the clouds compared to the graduating blue and the harshness of the greys and creams of the solid bus stop. On this image the main focal point is probably the large text right in the centre of the image. I wanted the text to retract from the image because I felt that because the image was repeated the main focal point shouldn’t be able to be seen twice. Because the text is so big the viewer reads this first then recognises that it’s the same image repeated.

This is a very simple image but I really like the effect of blurring the image, this was done through not focusing the image in the original shooting of the image. I like how you can make out the horizon making a clear distinction between the sky and the land. The light pastel colours for the sky look beautiful against the dark set of the landscape, although the focal point on the image is the light circle over taking the pastel colours with its bright contrast. I like how the colours all fade and blend together to create the picture making it picturesque and subtle. By making the image blurry you have made the viewer look deeper into the image to see what it is actually made up off, thus creating an interesting effect. The text is small but visual on this image because the picture is way to simple to not have a standing out factor.

This has to be my favourite image of this particular set because I really like the composition and the mysterious era it projects. My favourite aspect to this image is the fact that you as the viewer do not notice everything straight away and you have to look closer to see all the detail within the image. The main focal point appears to be the sun shining through the trees and I really like the streams of light it leaves over the trees creating the effect of a shinning sun. The eye is then lead down through the image taking in the trees and the colours of the lens flare which then eventually leads to the background of the image noticing the church. I like the effect of the image in that once noticing the church in the image it takes on the eerie feel, as before it could have been a beautiful wood. I edited the picture in this way to accentuate the dark, mysterious gloom the image reradiates, I upped the contrast but lowered the gamma brightness creating the darker effect. I put the simple text in a non discreet place within the image because although I didn’t want it too be the main focal point I wanted it to be a noticeable part to the picture.
